Day 5: We are just plain lazy!

Over time we have become lazy. It's not like we meant to, it just happened. As we work longer hours and sometimes second jobs it becomes more difficult to prepare nutritious meals. Picture the days when family's could afford for the wife to stay home and prepare a delicious meal from scratch.

Now, fast forward to the present. We are all working so much that we barely have time to feed ourselves. So more often than not we are finding it much easier to order carry out or swing through a drive thru. What we don't realize is that these foods are packed with fillers and other things our body just doesn't recognize. When this happens our mid-sections grow because our body says, I'm not sure what to do with this so I'll just keep it for later.

When eating foods with fillers and additives we are setting off a chain reaction in the body. I've been reading "Wheat Belly" by William Davis, MD. In his book he talks about wheat an how it raises the blood sugar super high and then drops. This is why we feel tired after a meal loaded with fillers. Then after a few hours we are starving again. He talks about this roller coaster we are on and can't seem to get off. The book offers real experiences from his office, of people who recover from a variety of symptoms just by eliminating wheat for 30 days. Most of his patients are experiencing weight lost up to 50 pounds or more!

Today I had my weekly weigh in and only lost 0.70 pounds. I'm totally OK with this number considering its continually going down. Since August of 2011 I have lost 33 pounds!! I'm pretty excited and I must say its been so easy once I got past the food allergies. I have always been athletic and active, but like others couldn't figure out why I was still gaining. I was still eating the same as when I was skinny and even tried counting calories. Nothing worked so I just assumed this is what happens as you age. I couldn't have been more wrong.

All I had to do was actually "feed" my body whole green foods and the weight just fell off. I was so busy I was barley exercising and it wasn't often enough to help me lose weight.

Just like everyone else, I too have become caught up in the hustle and bustle of each work day. With my allergies, some days I just want to sleep all day. And I don't have the luxury of running to the nearest drive thru for dinner. Even eating out takes research to find a place that caters to my allergies. So thanks to my friend Candi I have tried to incorporate more "frozen" meals into my menu. Not your typical frozen pizza or lasagna.  Today I made some veggie burgers and tossed them in the freezer for my lazy days!
